About us

A place where your child receives quality nurture and care in a stimulating learning environment

Clevedon Kidz commenced operating in 1986 as a crèche providing care for families in the Clevedon area. Now, 35 years later, Clevedon Kidz offers a community based early childhood service provided by Clevedon Presbyterian Church with the highest quality of nurture and care for children in a stimulating learning environment for the wider Clevedon community.

Our professional teaching team believes that children learn best through play and guided participation.  Our planned programme is founded on the core Christian principles of acceptance, love and honesty, and is aligned to Te Whariki, the national early childhood curriculum.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are committed to building reciprocal relationships with the parents and whanau of our local and wider community.

At Clevedon Kidz, children will have the opportunity to experience Te Whariki in practice through:

  • Developing understandings of core Christian values
  • Acknowledging and embracing  te reo Maori and tikanga Maori
  • Growing in independence and developing self-help skills
  • Being creative and able to express themselves
  • Feeling good about who they are and developing self esteem
  • Developing physical self-confidence and social skills
  • Learning caring and respect for themselves, others and the environment
  • Persisting, problem solving and taking risks
  • Developing early mathematical and literacy skills
  • Using their communication and language skills for a range of purposes
  • Working within appropriate and inclusive routines, limits and boundaries
  • Embracing and celebrating their uniqueness and individuality

Our aspiration is that your child will acquire a love and enthusiasm for learning, through active exploration and independent thinking that will continue to influence their learning throughout their lives.
